The Center for Automotive Research, through its commitment to research, and in harmony with the educational mission of The Ohio State University, has formulated a strong program of educational activities to provide interdisciplinary education and training in the field of automotive systems. The primary objectives are: (i) to provide advanced undergraduate and graduate level education to students focusing on the application area of automotive systems, and (ii) to provide interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate education and training to practicing engineers, in disciplines of critical importance to automotive systems. The educational activities of CAR are therefore aimed at assisting engineers in industry, as well as OSU engineering students, in acquiring knowledge of automotive processes and systems to better prepare them for careers and career advancements in the automotive industry.
The College of Engineering at The Ohio State University offers a wide variety of MS and Ph.D. degree programs in most fields of engineering. Of particular interest to students emphasizing automotive systems is the "MS Specialization" program, in which students tailor their MS degree program to suit their particular interests in automotive systems. Within CAR, student researchers of the various departments experience a strong interdisciplinary atmosphere, not only in their automotive-related coursework, but also in their specific areas of research.
