At CAR, research is our passion and influences everything we do. We conduct interdisciplinary research projects that lead the way to engineering innovations that raise the bar and improve our world by increasing vehicle performance and reducing our dependence on non-renewable fuel sources.

CAR researchers concentrate on projects in advanced automotive systems engineering, focusing on energy, safety and the environment. Resources available to our industrial partners and researchers consist of advanced experimental facilities including:

• four engine, one heavy-duty axle, and one chassis dynamometer test cells
• vibration, noise and acoustics laboratories, including a hemi-anechoic chamber
• intelligent and autonomous vehicle laboratories
• engine fluid mechanics and combustion research facilities
• electric, hybrid-electric propulsion, fuel cell and electrochemical energy storage research facilities
• hydrogen refueling station
