Welcome

Giorgio Rizzoni

Dr. Giorgio Rizzoni
Director, Center for Automotive Research

Welcome to the OSU Center for Automotive Research where we educate future automotive leaders. The center was established in 1991 as an interdisciplinary center that focuses on Research, Technology and Education. The center's Faculty, Staff and students believe in:

  • Excellence and innovation in research, technology and education * World-wide dissemination of knowledge
  • Teamwork and synergy among traditional disciplines
  • Responding to the needs of our customers and partners
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Establishing and adopting best practices
  • Reaching out and engaging the community

Our research activities focus on energy, safety and the environment. The cross-cutting focus of the CAR recognizes the critical importance of system integration and interdisciplinary thinking that is required in the development of future automotive systems. CAR is focused on preparing a new generation of engineers capable of leading system integration projects. The OSU CAR graduates are already highly sought out by the automotive industry on the strength of an interdisciplinary preparation that emphasizes integration among the disciplines of energy systems, electromechanical systems, modeling and simulation, sensing actuation and control, while providing depth in fields such as combustion, fluid and thermal sciences, electro-mechanics, control systems, and software engineering. Moreover, we offer state-of-the-art facilities that places CAR as one of the leading Automotive centers in the USA. In closing CAR is a catalyst to leveraging federal and industrial resources and programs towards achieving the objective of educating a new generation of automotive system engineers with a deep understanding of the technologies underlying advanced automotive systems.
